Salford’s independent drags politics into the gutter

First, independent Labour supporting cllr. Joe O’Neill used his blog to liken a Coventry socialist councillor to a Nazi. Now he’s responded to a comment from truly excellent Salford Lib Dem councillor Mary Ferrer by deleting her comment and labelling her ‘Mad Mary’.  So much for showing respect.  This behaviour, and his contempt for the people who elected him to get rid of the Labour party he now supports (although has apparently been rejected from rejoining) , really demonstrate how badly O’Neill has lost the plot. O’Neill has repeatedly shown why he’s unfit for office – this latest childish and offensive ranting just make it even clearer.

Time to go Joe – you may have tossed away your dignity by behaving the way you do, but there’s no need to make it worse.

[My belief is that] Independent councillor Joe O’Neill will be defending his Swinton South council seat but he definitely won’t be standing as a parliamentary candidate for Salford and Eccles at the General Election:

Do you have anything concrete to base that comment on, Richard (rather than just your “belief”) ?.

Also, I note you have changed your blog web address – would this have anything to do with the blogspot.com warning message that pops up on your old address which states “Some readers of this blog have contacted Google because they believe this blog’s content is objectionable.”?

It seems your old and new site both have the same “look and feel” and you’re also using blogspot.com for both sites.

    Care to explain?

Steve – I’m led to believe that something will be appearing in the MEN in the near future that will answer your question to Richard. If it turns out to be true it will be no surprise to either me or Norman as the candidacy has always been more about winding up Norman than about representing the residents in any case.

Steve (Middleton): I’ve had to be very careful how I phrased what I’ve said about Joe – hence taking pains to refer to ‘my belief’. Having said that, I have expressed my belief because my belief is based upon oral information from sources which I deem to be totally reliable. I’m afraid it would be imprudent of me to be any more specific than that here and now (however much I would like to state bluntly who has said what).

As for my blog, you rightly point out that there has been a change. The interstice was irritating to people [and wholly unwarranted but beyond my control] but that was not my reason for the swop. My web presence is being overhauled this week and then it will be set in place for the time up until the GE. For the record my official web presence is now my main site (richardcarvath.net), linking to my blog (carvath.blogspot.com) and my YouTube (youtube.com/user/RichardCarvath). Once the dust settles on my web presence in the next few days I’m sure you’ll be able to suss out what’s been done and why Steve as I know that you are well up on all things web related.
