Labour neglect the elderly – IN Salford

I recently asked for for an assessment for housing adaptations to be carried out for a lady who is in her eighties and has had a knee operation.  She’s facing real problems getting up and down her stairs and told me that it’s so bad that she will have to move home if she doesn’t get help. The assessment has been arranged but the lady has been told that she will have to wait several months. Just to get an assessment done – never mind be put on the incredibly long waiting list for the work to be carried out – will take months. Appalling. All she wants is to live independently for as long as possible. And yet Labour and the Independents voted against a Lib Dem proposal to target extra resources at reducing those waiting times. Who really cares for the people of Salford?

    Steve,

In light of your recent tact of Independent/Labour attacks. For clarification would you be able to give a statement on whether in the eventuality of a situation of no overall control in Salford Council following the elections in May would the Salford Liberal Democrat party work in coalition and/or offer support to allow the Salford Conservative party to take over control of Salford Council.

    Thanks

No I cannot – the group has made no decision in this regard. When the results come in we will look at how the electorate voted and consider how best to achieve Lib Dem policies and how to best respect the wishes of the electorate.

    Martin,

In light of our uncritical and supportive backing of the Labour party at the last council, could you give a statement on whether in the eventuality of a situation of no overall control in Salford Council following the elections in May would the Independent group work in coalition and/or offer support to allow the Salford Labour party to remain in control of Salford Council?

    Thanks.

What a surprise – no response. Too busy requesting Labour pary membership forms no doubt. I’m sure that the good people of Swinton South, who elected you to get rid of Labour will be impressed by how well you’ve respected their wishes.

Deflect my question and then attack Steve. Answered like a true politician.

You seem to enjoy posting whatever negative vitriol you like at present. Far be it for me to spoil your enjoyment with a factual response.

I’m sure the good people of Swinton South elected me to work for them and not play a bit part in supporting a minority Conservative council. It is interesting the lack of attacks aimed at your new friends.

You did play your part well though with your statement of support for the Conservative budget in Council.

I answered your question. Then you deflected mine with with an attack. You are as hypocritical as you are self-deluded.
