The results are terrific! Now we need to spill some Labour blood in the General Election. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come and that Blears and Keeley will be defeated.

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1048032_labours_election_misery#bcplayer - an interesting video clip about the Salford results, mainly about Irlam but a little bit on Swinton South. I love the look on Norman's face after the Irlam result....

Thanks Rick and Iain. Pretty good results for both our parties - perhaps Barbara Keeley's rudeness can be explained by her increased nervousness about her seat.

No figures yet for Manchester, the council haven't updated their website yet and the Evening News site doesn't seem to be playing ball either.

We won Miles Platting & Newton Heath and Northenden (the latter by 8 votes on a double recount), but lost Longsight to Labour. Labour did take the Green seat in Hulme, but failed to take target seats in the City Centre (which had a shocking 15% turnout) and Whalley Range.

The Tories were shut out of Manchester yet again....
