World Book Day
Today is World Book Day. Given that reading is one of my passions in life I thought I’d take the time to blog about it. My son went to school dressed as Snufkin from the Moomins – we’ve been reading the Moomin books to him and his brother for a while now and he loves them. I can remember voraciously reading them myself when at school in Cornwall many years ago. Sadly it seems that most of his school friends have not had the pleasure – Power Rangers and Cybermen were the order of the day (I know there are Dr. Who books, but surely not Power Rangers?).
To get into the spirit of things, here are five books which I love:
- If this is a man/The Truce by Primo Levi (two books for the price of one);
- Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell
- The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
- The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
- Neuromancer by William Gibson
And finally, some unbelievably wonderful and exciting book sites:
Happy World Book Day.
