Trouble and Strife

I’ve just had an email demanding to know who the councillors I mentioned in my last post were, so I think it’s time to add some further thoughts to the story. In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t included the last sentence in my post, I’m not going to remove it though because what’s done is done (though I have censored it slightly). The reason I now think, in the cold light of day that the post could stand without it is about the nature of the story. Yes it’s a story that’s in the public interest: that a senior Labour councillor has such a low opinion of the local Labour MP that they’re willing to loudly and openly say so to another senior councillor is the story here. What isn’t the story is that somebody was so angry that they were rude.

It wasn’t easy deciding to post the story in the first place. Though the argument was loud and animated, and in a public corridor, I doubt the parties would have wanted it made public. If they’ve been speaking quietly in an office and I’d overheard as I walked passed I’d have kept it to myself.  These two were clearly not trying to be discreet. Still, I remain slightly uncomfortable about spilling the beans.
